Cast of Characters:
Nia — Short for Petunia, late 20s. A young werewolf who needs money to bail her brother out of prison.
Ambrose — A vampire who appears to be in his late 40s. Starving, gaunt, pushed out of his territory by younger, stronger vampires. He hires Nia for the heist.
Otis — Night guard and invisible person.
Mikayla — Night nurse, used to supernatural shenanigans.
Beginning:
A woman in scrubs and mask walks a gurney down the hall. A Doctor, accompanied by a Nurse, Mikayala, stops her, asks whose patient this is. The woman says the paperwork said to take this body down to the morgue. The Doctor lifts the sheet, sees a pale/gaunt looking man, feels for pulse, then allows her to proceed; though the Nurse seems to narrow her eyes at the interaction, as if sensing something was off.
The woman does, eventually stopping in front of an unmarked door. The corpse, expertly played by Ambrose, suddenly sits up, and the woman, Nia, takes off her mask with a smirk saying, “Told you it would work.”
Middle:
Nia and Ambrose enter the room, which is full of supplies and a locked door in the back. Nia then tries to use her strength to break the knob on the door, but it’s reinforced—or perhaps were-resistant. Meanwhile, Ambrose is messing with the supplies while mocking Nia; light werewolf vs vampire banter ensues.
All the while, there are hints that something may be off for their operation … sudden, loud noises, objects shifting here and there, small obstacles that hinder their process that eludes the pair for their actual cause.
Frustrated with Nia’s lack of progress, Ambrose uses his powers to slip inside the door, and retrieve the loot they came here for: blood bags.
End:
Nia and Ambrose walk victoriously through the hospital halls, but as they do, one of their stolen blood bags suddenly floats away. Then another, and another. Panicked, they realize there is an invisible man, Otis, who is hot on their trail, flashing his night guard badge, he chases them out of the hospital. But before a supernatural brawl can occur, the nurse, Mikayla, comes forward to chastise them.
Mikayla seems unruffled by some supernatural cat burglars, BUT with some careful (dramatic) persuasion from Ambrose, lets him leave with one bag of A+ blood. As Ambrose and Nia slink into the night, Ambrose is gloomy about getting so little after all that hard work. That’s when Nia opens her hoodie to reveal she stuffed blood bags down the sleeves and in the inside pockets.
They banter, of course, but the barbs aren’t so sharp—after all, Ambrose’s clever acting got them into their mark, and got them out of a tense situation with Mikalya and Otis, and Nia’s quick thinking and clever planning may be worth more than pure lycanthropic brawn. Together, they walk into the moonlight—successful heist complete.
